Skeptiko: 'the Men Who Stare at Goats' Author, Jon Ronson Off-Target on Remote Viewing

Interview with the filmmaker and author Jon Ronson examines whether remote viewing portrayed in the new hit movie really exists.

Del Mar, CA, November 09, 2009 --( Join Host Alex Tsakiris for a discussion with 'The Men Who Stare at Goats' author, Jon Ronson. In the 35-minute interview Ronson discusses his examination of whether the U.S. Army was able to successfully use remote viewing techniques:
“Well, remote viewing’s a tough one, you know? It’s easy with of goat staring, you kind of know. .. the difficult thing about remote viewing of course, is when you see the 20 years of experiments you’ll see plenty of occasions when they’ll have sketched something based on a kind of psychic viewing of the map coordinates and the sketch looks rather like the actual thing that’s in the map coordinate. “ – Jon Ronson

When asked about research suggesting the unexplained remote viewing phenomena actually occurs, Ronson reveals:

“When I was writing 'The Men Who Stare at Goats', I decided that I didn’t want to write a book which tried to prove or disprove the claims. I wanted to write a kind of a study of – almost like a kind of soap opera – of the people involved in these programs.” -- Jon Ronson

During the interview Ronson also discusses his examination of near-death experience and transformative spiritual experiences (he’s skeptical).
