Los Angeles Women’s Lacrosse Goes Hawaiian for the 19th Annual Hawaii Lacrosse Invitational

Los Angeles Women's Lacrosse, a company dedicated to the advancement of women's lacrosse around the United States, took its inaugural travel team trip to Honolulu this past October.

Los Angeles, CA, November 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Los Angeles Women’s Lacrosse (LA Women’s LAX) took it’s first travel team, made up of High School and Post-Collegiate players to Hawaii for the 19th Annual Hawaii Lacrosse Invitational where they won Fourth Place honors out of 14 women’s teams. Twenty men’s teams participated in the event as well.

Alumni Lacrosse players from Duke University, University of Virginia, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Gonzaga University and Pepperdine University joined five High School Lacrosse players from across the country. The ladies showed tenacity, drive and heart playing four (4) games in two (2) days to take fourth place after only meeting and practicing together for a single day.

Co-Founder and player, Alison Brittan was pleased. “We started this company to broaden opportunities for girls of all ages to have greater opportunities to experience leagues, tournaments, clinic, training and travel to women’s Lacrosse and I think we’re off to a great start.”

“I was really proud of the way the younger players held up against some really great competitors while we were in Hawaii,” said LA Women’s LAX Coach and Co-Founder Juliet Mittleman. “Being our first travel team and including young ladies currently in High School, we weren’t sure how it would work, but it did.”

Ashleigh Haas, former player for University of Virginia said, "The Hawaii Invitational was a wonderful blend of competitive lacrosse and tropical paradise. It was an unforgettable weekend and I'm already looking forward to next year!"

California’s Pacific Palisades High School Senior, Emma Carter adds, “It was a really fun trip, and great for us high school girls to play with such experienced post-collegiate players. It was awesome to place fourth, even though we had never played together.”

LA Women’s LAX is putting together a travel team to head to Florida in January 2010 for their next invitational. Some ladies will return from the successful Hawaii team while they will be looking for others to join them. LA Women’s LAX offers current students as well as alumni students the opportunities to travel and to play the sport all year long.
