Top Mixologists Will Battle to "Shake Their Way to Brazil" at the Final Shake Off for Cuca Fresca’s National Mixology Challenge

The country's top mixologists will battle to win the grand prize, a trip to Brazil, in Cuca Fresca's Shake Your Way to Brazil Mixology Challenge.

Pleasantville, NY, November 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Cuca Fresca Exports, LLC, makers of a multi-award-winning portfolio of organic cachaças and ready to drink cocktails, is hosting the Final Shake Off for their North American mixology challenge at Chicago’s Encore Liquid Lounge on December 1st. The grand prize winner of this competition will be flown to Brazil for a five-day mixology and culinary experience that includes a private distillery tour courtesy of Cuca Fresca.

Cuca Fresca launched this competition in July as a way of inspiring creative bartenders and mixologists to find the ultimate way of using their premium cachaça in a cocktail that demonstrates their own unique style. The response to the competition was overwhelming with recipes pouring in from top talent across the country including 2007 James Beard Award Nominee Elad Zvi, Corey Bunnewith (one of Beverage Media Journal’s Top 10 Mixologists to Watch 2009), Gabriel Orta, Owen Thompson and Tom Chadwick.

On November 3rd, the submissions were narrowed down to five finalists who will battle it out live for Cuca Fresca’s panel of esteemed judges that includes Paul Pacult, who is widely regarded as the leading expert on distilled spirits in the country, Sean Ludford, Paul Abercrombie, and Gina Chersevani. “Based on the caliber of talent we have competing and the recipes we’ve seen so far, this competition is going to be very close” said Cuca Fresca’s Managing Partner, Phoenix Kelly-Rappa.

Cuca Fresca chose the Encore Liquid Lounge to host the final event because of their innovative cocktail program and unique layout. The lounge’s raised circular bar provides the perfect stage for the finalists to showcase their skills The winning cocktail will be added to Encore’s cocktail menu immediately following the competition.
