London, United Kingdom, November 15, 2009 --(PR.com
)-- The inaugural Mud Runner race took place on 12th October, and is forming part of a series of adventure races planned by D3. The race challenged hardened adventure racers from all over the UK and surprised those less experienced who reported back that it was a lot of fun.
The race was 10km long and run over muddy, sticky and very wet terrain using the same tracks that Land Rovers have been tested and developed on for a generation.
The course which tramped through the punishing Malvern Hills, was peppered with water-filled pits, steep muddy banks and although the weather had not bought in the typical English rain, the event organisers topped up selected locations with additional water to ensure that that the race was muddy enough.
The feedback from the 420 odd racers was exceptionally positive with everyone showing great humour and competitive spirit. D3 feel the success of this first race has put Mud Runner firmly on the adventure racing map and have planned the next two races already for 2010.
In parallel with the growing off road triathlon and duathlon scene in the UK, recent years have seen huge growth in Adventure Racing. AR events have been springing up all over the country and attracting triathletes, mountain bikers, orienteers and others who love the great outdoors in droves. Brands such as Helly Hansen, Merrell and Puma use adventure races to reinforce their brands values and products features. It also provides a means of getting up close to consumers and creating a genuine brand experience.
D3 Events have been organising adventure competitions all over the world for many years; Mud Runner is their latest example of just how engaging and powerful the outdoor environment can be. More information on Mud Runner is available on http://www.mudrunner.co.uk or http://www.d3events.co.uk
