Family Service recently kicked off their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive for individuals and families in need. This year, along with collecting frozen turkeys and sides, they added a brand new Virtual Food Drive to the mix to make it easy for donors to make a difference.

The Virtual Food Drive allows donors to purchase an entire cart of food with the click of a mouse. “We created the drive to make it as simple as possible for our supporters to make a difference,” said Pamela Collins, Director of Development and Communication. “It can be a hectic time of year, so we are hoping the community will jump at the chance to give without having to step foot in a grocery store.”

The drive runs until Wednesday, November 24, and there are three ways to donate. Drop off donations to the Family Service Food Pantry, Suite 16, 770 Woodlane Road, Mount Holly, NJ, visit www.fam-serv.org and click on the turkey located on the right hand side of the page, or mail a monetary donation.

Family Service is one of the few agencies in the area that offers a food drive online and hopes to reach those donors who are unable to drop off donations. Family Service donor Kim Beam explains, “I think this new type of donation drive is a great opportunity for people like me. Many times I want to donate, but it gets lost in the shuffle of things to do. The ability to make the donation online allows me to take action right then and there.”

This holiday season, Family Service also wants to connect with the community through their new Facebook, Twitter and You Tube accounts. The sites will feature testimonials along with photos and videos of donors. Collins adds, “It’s the perfect opportunity to raise awareness about Family Service and the value we bring to the community.”

Family Service, a private non-profit community agency, serves the behavioral health and wellness needs of children, individuals and families in southern and central New Jersey. For more information, please call the Development Office at (609) 267- 5928, or email lizf@famserv.org.
