)-- After the DIGI Awards were handed out in New York on Tuesday November 10, 2009 iMediaT Digital won the award for Best Deployment, Transportation. The DIGI Awards honour innovation and excellence in the Digital Signage industry. iMediaT Digital worked with Best Buy Commercial Services Canada to develop a station entrance emergency digital signage system that alerts users of the SkyTrain Rapid Transit.
The system is designed to display general information about the SkyTrain line during normal daily operation. iMediaT Digital designed the system to help Field Operations staff update the screens in the event of an emergency anywhere along the line. Using a combination of the PADS software by Net Display Systems and custom designed software from iMediaT Digital, the system instantly overrides all general content on screens located at station entrances. The system is extremely robust and allows a single screen or combination to be targeted with messaging. Messages are time sensitive based on user settings and can be stopped at any time with the click of a button.
