Kultur is proud to announce the DVD & Blu-ray release of Giacomo Puccini’s immortal opera La Bohème in the acclaimed high budget feature-film version directed by Academy Award® nominee Robert Dornhelm, starring opera's 'Golden Couple', soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Rolando Villazón. The DVD and Blu-ray will both be available on December 15, 2009.
The chemistry between them is electric, unrivaled in the theatre today. Russian soprano Anna Netrebko is not only beautiful but has a marvelous voice and technique; and Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón, has a wonderful voice and incredible charisma.
The excellent bonus features include fascinating interviews with all the key performers and the director, who confirms that he not only wanted to remain steadfastly faithful to Puccini's design, but also document two of the leading singers of the modern age rather than embarking on some kind of trendy contemporary re-creation.
La Bohème has had a successful theatrical release in over 100 cities throughout the U.S. It will be broadcast nationally on the PBS Television Network on December 23rd.
