Digital Filmmaking Instructor at The Art Institute of Jacksonville Wins Florida’s 2010 Artist Fellowship Grant for Media Arts

Jacksonville, FL, November 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Isaac Brown, Digital Filmmaking Instructor at The Art Institute of Jacksonville and Director, Producer, Cinematographer and Editor for Jellyfish Smack Productions, has been awarded the State of Florida’s 2010 Individual Artist Fellowship Grant for the Media Arts category.

According to the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, the Individual Artist Fellowship Program was developed to highlight the creation of new artworks by individuals who have demonstrated exceptional talent and ability.

“Isaac is an amazing filmmaker and an inspiring teacher. He is able to talk to his students about his real life experience and ability to problem solve as an artist. He is very deserving of this Fellowship Grant and we are very grateful he is part of our team here,” said Dr. Nadia Ramoutar, Academic Director of Digital Filmmaking & Video Production.

The Individual Artist Fellowship Grant was established to assist artistic individuals in achieving their creative goals, while supporting the advancement of their careers. As a Fellowship Recipient, Brown will receive $5,000 to use towards the Media Arts field.

Brown is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he received both his Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism and his Master of Arts in Mass Communication from the Documentary Institute. While attending the Documentary Institute, he had the opportunity to meet fellow classmate Eric Flagg. Together, in 2006, they founded Jellyfish Smack Productions. Flagg is also a Digital Filmmaking instructor at The Art Institute of Jacksonville.

In addition to the Individual Artist Fellowship Grant, Brown has also received numerous awards for earlier projects. The documentaries and commercials he has created have appeared on local, national and international television, including Current TV, PBS, the Documentary Channel and the Sundance Channel.
