Panasonic Launches 12 Series Plasma Range Incorporating Breakthrough NEO PDP Technology

Panasonic releases first models in its new 12-Series range aimed primarily at digital signage market

London, United Kingdom, November 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Panasonic Professional Projectors and Displays Europe (PPDE) today announced the launch of the first three models from its 12 series range of plasma displays. Aimed primarily at the digital signage, rental and presentation markets the new large format displays incorporate Panasonic’s NEO PDP technology to offer double efficiency and improved image quality within a thinner and lighter display.

The first 12 series screens are available in 58”, 65” and 85” models and can be mounted horizontally or vertically via a simple to use slot in system to suit a broad range of display functions. NEO PDP offers moving image resolution of 1,080 lines to eliminate motion blur and trails, and a contrast ratio of 40,000:1 to provide deeper shades of black and more detailed, realistic images. The high end image specifications are designed to be eye catching enough to draw the attention of passers by and appeal to those advertisers that have previously been disappointed by the inability of digital signage to faithfully reproduce artwork within brand parameters.

“The introduction of 12 series NeoPDP technology is a big step forward in Panasonic’s strategy to lead the large Display format market,” said Enrique Robledo, Panasonic’s Plasma Marketing Manager in Europe, he continued: “The professional market needs ever larger displays for a wide range applications, including public display, presentation and events. The 12 series meets industry demands for large format displays that are environmentally efficient, but are also flexible, reliable and offer the high image quality that AV professionals expect”.

Commenting on the prospects for the new range Chris McIntyre-Brown, Head of Professional IT & Imaging, FutureSource, said: “The market for large format 65”< displays is forecast to grow strongly over the coming quarters as key economies move out of recession, supply side production efficiencies drive heavy price erosion and end users look for ever larger display sizes to communicate, advertise, entertain and inform. Digital signage, in all its various guises, will undoubtedly be the key driver for growth in this category but the presentation space is also expected to see rapid adoption as AV budgets ease and companies shrug off the ‘make do’ culture experienced during the last year.”

The 12 Series range has been slimmed down, thus significantly reducing the weight of all models making them easy to transport and install. The displays have been developed for 24 hour use offering a robust front panel and lifespan of up to 100,000 hours*, making them a cost effective proposition for the longer term. The 12-series also offers a high degree of customisation through an easy access slot system that allows users to select modular boards to provide the right combination of inputs to suit any particular application. The first of the 12-Series models are coming to the market throughout November & December.

* The brightness of the display then reduces to half
