The Art Institute of Jacksonville Joins the Beaches Habitat for Humanity to Dedicate New Homes

Jacksonville, FL, November 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Interior Design Department at The Art Institute of Jacksonville, joined the Beaches Habitat for Humanity to celebrate the completion of the 200th and 201st homes in the Jacksonville Beach area. The Beaches Habitat for Humanity’s Beach Bash 2009: History in the Making was held at the Selva Marina Country Club, on Saturday, November 14, 2009.

Patricia Thompson, Director of the Interior Design Department and member of the Beaches Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, Jason Canning, full time Interior Design faculty member and Anne Stahl, Interior Design student at The Art Institute of Jacksonville all participated in the events. They created a scale model of the duplex homes in Haywood Estates for the annual event.

“The Art Institute was honored to have shared in this joyful event for the Beaches Habitat for Humanity and the two newest home owners and their families,” said Dr. John Pufahl, President of The Art Institute of Jacksonville. Dr. Pufahl added, “We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to support the efforts of the Beaches Habitat for Humanity. Our Interior Design department partnered with their team to successfully support this effort.”

The Beach Bash event began at 5 PM, immediately following the dedication ceremony of the Beaches Habitat’s 200th and 201st homes. The event included hors d’oeuvres from a number of local gourmet restaurants and live music provided by Mid-Life Crisis. The evening came to an end with a special tribute to benefactors Nancy and Larry Huang.

According to Beaches Habitat for Humanity, the nonprofit founded in 1991, has been building quality affordable homes for qualified families, in addition to providing educational assistance and opportunities to allow families to succeed in the future. The Art Institute of Jacksonville’s Interior Design Department plans to continue supporting their efforts with upcoming projects.
