Historic Galveston Hotel Offers Escape from Malls with Downtown Shopping Discount for the Holidays

Galveston, TX, November 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Escape the crowded malls during the busy holiday season and explore shops in Galveston’s historic downtown as part of The Tremont House Getaway for the Holidays package. Galveston’s only historic downtown hotel invites guests to enjoy a quiet getaway this holiday season. The Tremont House Getaway for the Holidays package includes discounts to downtown merchants, two tickets to Moody Gardens Festival of Lights, a 20 percent discount at Tremont Café and a 15 percent discount on a special holiday-themed treatment at The Spa at the Hotel Galvez.

The Tremont House is conveniently located within walking distance to various shops, boutiques, restaurants, galleries and attractions. The package, available Dec. 1 through Dec. 31, excluding Dec. 4 and Dec. 5, is $435 for a two-night stay on Friday and Saturday or $135 for a one-night stay Sunday through Thursday, based on double occupancy. An additional night during the week can be added for $105 plus tax.

In addition to shopping downtown, Galveston will celebrate the holidays with events at Saengerfest Park on Saturdays. The Grand 1894 Opera House and ETC at the Strand Theatre will also feature holiday-themed shows in December. The Grand 1894 Opera House will host the City of Houston Ballet for their performance of “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 12 and 13. ETC at the Strand Theatre (East-End Theatre Company), located across the street from The Tremont House, will present “A Broadway Christmas Carol” on Thursdays through Sundays through Dec. 19. Tickets are available directly through the theaters.

The hotel’s historic Toujouse Bar dates back to the 1870s and is open daily from 2 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 2 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays. Guests can enjoy live entertainment by country-jazz singer Nina Kay from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The Rooftop Bar at The Tremont House, which is open seasonally, is currently open from 5 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Tremont Café offers Starbucks coffee, specialty flatbread pizza cooked in a brick pizza oven, gourmet and hot pressed sandwiches, salads, soups, house-made pastries and desserts. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and provides items for room service.
