Thinʞnao Helps Asian Market Look at Education in a New Light

The iPhone and iPod touch have taken the entire world by storm - but not only the English-speaking world. China Unicom expects 10% of its 3G subscribers to have an iPhone by 2012 and in the hyper-competitive Japanese market, the iPhone recently ranked as the top seller.

Beijing, China, December 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Thinʞnao is a new app development company creating mobile edutainment apps aimed at the Chinese and Japanese markets, and the growing number of people looking to use their mobile devices as a learning and study tool. Thinʞnao apps also promise their users a bit of fun. Their first development platform is the iPhone.

Thinʞnao is a new mobile app development startup, with the aim and potential to be the premier source for mobile edutainment apps for created specifically for the Chinese and Japanese markets. Their distinctive brand, with its inverted 'k' and English / Chinese hybrid name is indicative of what customers can expect - a unique cross-cultural educational experience with a difference.

Their first app for the iPhone / iPod touch platform is a Chinese word game, tagged as a Chinese version of Boggle, where players select a set of Chinese characters from which they make as many words as they can before time expires. Finding four-character 'chengyu' from within the mixed up characters, allows the player to increase their points and earn the right to continue to advance to the next round. The app will be available for download on alternative mobile devices in the near future also.

There are currently several versions of thinʞnao's new app available in both traditional and simplified characters. LITE versions are also available for users that would like to try before they buy. More apps for the iPhone and other mobile internet platforms are in development at thinʞnao, and include logic, quiz and unique crossword games.

David Van Dyke, CEO at thinʞnao, believes that having a focused set of fun, logical, educational apps targeted specifically for the Chinese and Japanese consumers is long overdue. "The potential is there. Many Western games can be fun if put into a Chinese context. But more importantly, making Chinese or Japanese apps for learning while having fun is the real opportunity. Our iPhone apps provide an addictive, 3-5 minute burst of fun that educates along the way. Adults love the concept, so do parents."

"There is an enormous untapped market segment there," Mr Van Dyke continued.

Building niche iPhone / iPod touch apps for the Chinese and Japanese marketplace is relatively new, but thinʞnao employees are almost unfailingly industry veterans with depth of experience in software, telecom and all major markets in Asia.

"We also try to do business in a newer, more contemporary way", said Mr Van Dyke. "We have a written competency test for employees, closed-book style, and we really try to take care of our people. We recognize the edutainment sector as a growing one, and want to use local talent and innovation to create and expand this new market," he continued.

Thinʞnao currently also has a beta testing program available to the general public, where customers can use the apps for free in exchange for user feedback on the functionality.
