College Park Rotary Club Hosts Exchange Student

The College Park Rotary Club is participating in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program by hosting an exchange student from Poland for the 2009-2010 school year.

Orlando, FL, December 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Rotary International is the world's oldest and most international service organization, with over 1.2 million members in 32,000 clubs, in almost 200 countries. Each year, Rotary clubs help sponsor over 8,000 high school students as they participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program worldwide. The Rotary Youth Exchange program is open to high school students, or those who have just graduated, offering a life-changing experience as they spend a year in another country, becoming fluent in the language and immersed in the culture, and developing friendships that will last a lifetime.

The College Park Rotary Club is honored to participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program and host its first inbound exchange student, Maciej Marczewski, a 17-year-old senior from Poland. Maciej arrived in August 2009 to live with a generous host family in Baldwin Park and is attending Winter Park High School. As Maciej stated when he arrived, “I have started probably the greatest adventure of my life.”

Maciej is from Kielce, Poland, a large centrally located city with about 200,000 residents. He lives with his parents in the outskirts of the city. Maciej also has an older brother that is currently studying at the London School of Economics.

Maciej is enjoying his studies at Winter Park High School. He says it’s a great place and everyone is very kind and helpful to him. Besides the loads of homework Maciej has joined the swim team to meet new people and help stay active.

The College Park Rotary Club has enjoyed getting to know Maciej and including him in all their activities. As Maciej says, “Rotary Youth Exchange is the greatest thing I have experienced in my life. It helps my dreams come true. I feel it is something created for a person like me. I love meeting new people, visiting new places and discovering new cultures. I am sure this year will influence my whole life.”

Join them for a meeting! Come see what your College Park Rotarians are doing for your community. Meetings are every Thursday morning from 7:30 am - 8:30 am at Dubsdread Country Club, 549 W. Par Street, Orlando (breakfast included). For more information on the College Park Club visit www.CollegeParkRotary.org or to learn more about Rotary International visit www.rotary.org
