Hawaii Community Action Group Collects Over 17,000 Participants for Online Petition to End Hawaii Furlough Fridays - Only 7,000 Short of Goal

Hawaii Educational Support Group FurloughFridaysHelp.Com reaches out to it's community in their time of need.

Honolulu, HI, December 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The grassroots community action group: furloughfridayshelp.com announced today that they have collected over 17,000 participants for their online petition to end the Hawaii Furlough Fridays School Policy.

FurloughFridaysHelp.com is an evolving, grassroots organization consisting of parents, teachers, civic organizations and citizens who believe that the furlough Fridays policy is detrimental to Hawaii and its people. Their stated mission is to raise awareness about this issue and to garner enough support to ensure that it is reversed. They also want to close the door legislatively to ensure that these policies which could endanger the future of Hawaii youth are no longer possible.

"We are pleased with the results thus far but we have a big job ahead of us and we must continue to seek and build support.", explains director Ava Areu. "We need all of our concerned citizens to join our petition at www.furloughfridayshelp.com, so that we as a community united can influence change at the Hawaii DOE and legislative levels."
