The City of San Diego Park & Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services is a program created in 1972 provided to reach out to San Diegans with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. The program provides sports, recreation, and leisure services. The services provided include therapeutic recreation programs and adaptive sports opportunities, meant specifically to address the special needs of individuals with disabilities who may not be able to access other opportunities offered to the general public. The Services reach more than 50,000 people annually and have received local, state and national recognition for being outstanding in the field of recreation for people with disabilities.
San Diego Marketing Group members were manning four different game booths. Each member was in charge of setting up stations, running contests and helping children with the game participation.
"It's so exciting to see how much of a difference our time can make. I think the activities help people work better as a team as well as understand how valuable giving back can be. It is not mandatory for employees to volunteer at events like this, so I am so proud of the people that work here for taking time out of their Saturday to help out. It was a very successful day and I look forward to participating in more activities soon." - Rich Dinella, President of San Diego Marketing Group.
