Pasadena Foster Care Charity Celebrates Season at Parkway Grill

Volunteers Raise Funds to Benefit Children’s Programs.

Pasadena, CA, December 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- With the economy still in a downturn, the holiday season can be a time to lift everyone’s spirits, bringing together family and friends while celebrating the meaning of Christmas. Guests at Hillsides Guild’s annual holiday celebration at the Parkway Grill in Pasadena took time to mingle with friends while also bringing joy to many deserving foster care children and families in need. Raising over $5,000 to benefit Hillsides, a Pasadena foster care charity that also serves families in Los Angeles County, guests enjoyed fine dining, entertainment and the company of each other.

Co-chairing the event, Beth Yale of San Marino, Aline Kuhnle of Glendale, and Barbara Robison of Pasadena planned the Hillsides Guild dinner, a perfect start to the holidays while giving guests the opportunity to remember the charity’s children and youth. The proceeds enable the Guild to support the foster care children’s charity through its various enriching children’s activities. Guests also brought a toy for the charity while other children’s gift wishes were also displayed for additional guests who wanted to be Santa’s helpers by making a foster care child’s holiday wish come true.

Over 120 guests savored an assortment of wood fire gourmet pizzas, house-selected red and white wines, and a delectable feast that included Parkway Grill’s signature bread basket, Cabrales bleu cheese organic field greens salad with red wine poached pears married with candied pecans, and mesquite grilled prime filet mignon, mashed potatoes, baby carrots and port cherry vinaigrette. Topping the palate was a hazelnut chocolate mousse pie.

Afterwards guests listened to new entertainment: USC’s Award-Winning SoCal VoCals. Adding to the merriment of the evening were opportunity prizes, which included dinners for six at Smitty’s, Parkway Grill, Arroyo Chop House, Café 140, Vibrato Grill, and Cheval Blanc Bistro as well as a Jacob Maarse holiday decoration. Among the winners were David Nichols of Glendale, Paul Erskine of Pasadena, Sheryl Barnardo of San Marino, Don and Sally Clark of Pasadena, Denise Greenawalt of Burbank and Dee Fisher of La Canada.
