Susan Carparelli Named New President and CEO of Denver Nonprofit Parent Pathways

Susan Carparelli, a hands-on leader and visionary with a diverse background in both the public and private sectors, has been selected president and CEO of the Denver nonprofit Parent Pathways, the agency announced.

Denver, CO, December 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Parent Pathways Board of Directors selected Carparelli because of her broad organizational experience, proven experience in developing public-private partnerships, strategic planning expertise, social work background, fund-raising savvy and passion for Parent Pathways’ vision to help teen parents raise healthy families.

"We're excited to have Sue as our new CEO,” said Parent Pathways Board Chair Doug Hock. “Her experience and the clear passion she brings to the mission of Parent Pathways make her an ideal leader for the organization. Her leadership abilities will allow Parent Pathways to implement and build upon its recently-completed strategic plan and further its work of helping teen parents raise healthy families.”

Carparelli was founding President and CEO of the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence, a statewide public/private initiative to resolve healthcare workforce shortages, where she served from 2002-2008. There, she successfully conceived, planned and launched all facets of the operation, from Board development and governance to strategic planning, program creation and fundraising.

Her previous experience includes positions as Vice President of Administration at the Southeast Business Partnership in Englewood, Vice President of Business and Program Development at the Rose Medical Center in Denver, and Director of The HealthSource at Fairfax Hospital in Annandale, VA. (Carparelli’s resume is available online at www.parentpathways.org.)

"Parent Pathways has a long history as a unique and vital resource helping teen parents raise healthy families,” said Carparelli. “Going forward, I will work to build upon the tremendous strengths of the organization -- the depth of talent and expertise among the staff, the commitment and stewardship of the Board, and the strong and effective collaboration with community partners."

Carparelli holds a Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Denver, a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Dakota.

“Sue brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of CEO for Parent Pathways,” agreed Vice Chair Helen Drexler. “Her passion for our mission, coupled with her expertise in strategic planning and program delivery, makes her an ideal candidate to lead the agency. I’m excited to have her join our organization and bring new ideas and creativity to the role of CEO.”

The agency will introduce Carparelli to the community in 2010 through her attendance at events and functions throughout Denver.

Carparelli succeeds Noreen Keleshian, who led Parent Pathways for 20 years before stepping down this fall.
