Fiamme Restaurant & Bar and The Melting Pot Thousand Oaks to Go Head-to-Head in the Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast Cookie Bake-off

Owner of both establishments, Liz Beddow, will compete against Fiamme’s Executive Chef Bob Barber and eight other chefs to create the best Girl Scout Cookie dessert.

Thousand Oaks, CA, December 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies, so what could be sweeter than a head-to-head competition, owner vs. chef, to create California’s best Girl Scout Cookie Dessert? That will be the scene this January as Liz Beddow, owner of both Fiamme Restaurant & Bar and The Melting Pot Thousand Oaks takes on Fiamme’s Executive Chef Bob Barber in the Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast Cookie Bake-off and Auction at California Lutheran University, January 16th.

“It’s game on!” said proprietor Liz Beddow. “I’ll be representing the Melting Pot, Thousand Oaks, against Fiamme’s Chef Bob Barber and eight other local chefs. Not only will this be an incredibly fun event, it is another opportunity to fire up the community and help raise funds for a group that is especially near to my heart, the Girl Scouts.”

Each chef selected one Girl Scout cookie in a random drawing held December 13th and was provided with cookies and required to create two batches of one unique, mouth-watering dessert. Fiamme will be creating with Tagalong® cookies, round cookies with a layer of peanut butter on top, and covered in chocolate, and The Melting Pot, Thousand Oaks, with Trefoil shortbread cookies. One batch will be tasted and judged as part of the competition and the other will be auctioned as part of a fundraiser for the Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast.

The Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast Cookie Bake-off is supported through Fiamme’s “Fire Up the Community!” a program that aids non-profit organizations with their fundraising efforts. To date, the popular restaurant and music venue has helped raise urgently needed funds for local groups including Agoura High School Charger Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura, the Dignity® Memorial Vietnam Wall, the Lilly of the Valley AIDS Organization Mission (Love Fest), the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, The United Way, and FOODShare among others.
