Five New Colleges and Universities Integrate Student Advantage National Discount Program

Boston, MA, October 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Student Advantage today announced that five new schools have implemented its University ID discount program: Milwaukee School of Engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder, SUNY – Purchase, Mercyhurst College, and Suffolk University. These schools join a growing roster of leading higher education institutions such as Georgetown University and Southern Connecticut State University that already deliver the national discount program to their student bodies.

The integrated University ID program allows college and university card offices to include the benefits of Student Advantage discounts directly onto their student ID cards (which display the SA logo, as well as program information). Students can then gain access to a network of more than 20,000 discount locations, including leading businesses like Amtrak, Target.com, and Greyhound. In return, card offices receive income from commissions on the sale of the program.

“When I heard about the Student Advantage University ID program at the CCSUG (CBORD Campus Systems User Group) Conference in 2005, I knew it was a perfect fit for our institution,” said Sheila Barber, Campus Card Administrator at Milwaukee School of Engineering. “Student Advantage worked diligently to maneuver around some internal technical issues and far exceeded our expectations with a new revenue stream.”

Student Advantage teams up with each partnering institution’s card office to build a custom marketing program targeting incoming first-year students and transfer students. “We recognize the complexity of card software and the institutional processes,” said Adam Nelson, Director of University Relations at Student Advantage. “We have developed several options for achieving maximum performance with flexible execution.”

In addition to helping each school achieve success with the program, Student Advantage works to strengthen the relationships between partnering institutions and their local communities. John Patterson, Director of the One-Card Office at Mercyhurst College, reported that “Mercyhurst College saw the University ID program as a win-win-win solution: students receive exclusive discounts, local merchants receive increased student traffic, and Mercyhurst receives a new revenue stream.”

“Supporting our college and university partners with this unique program has been extremely exciting,” said Kate Murphy, University Account Manager at Student Advantage. Murphy recently supported SUNY – Purchase onsite when the school introduced the addition of Student Advantage to the Purchase More Card. Bill Guerrero, Executive Director of SUNY– Purchase, stated, “Student Advantage’s known reputation for excellent customer service was well exhibited by Kate Murphy. Her passion for the product made it a successful launch with our students and parents.”
