S. Mark Taper Grants $250,000 to Partners in Care for Construction of the S. Mark Taper Health Innovation Center, Expansion of Evidence-Based Health Education Program

San Fernando, CA, January 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Partners in Care Foundation announces the receipt of a grant award totaling $250,000 over two years from the S. Mark Taper Foundation. The funds will support the construction and naming of the S. Mark Taper Health Innovation Center on the Partners in Care site at 732 Mott Street, San Fernando, California. “The enthusiastic support of the S. Mark Taper Foundation for our building project and expansion of our evidence-based health education programs is giant step forward for our organization and for the thousands of underserved individuals who will benefit from our programs,” noted June Simmons, Partners CEO. “This grant award constitutes an initial investment in what I believe will be an outstanding center of health innovation where promising programs can be evaluated and programs with strong evidence of success will continue to be offered and expanded,” continued Ms. Simmons.

The S. Mark Taper Health Innovation Center will house the Partners staff responsible for scaling up Partners evidence-based program interventions to support the growth and dissemination of these programs throughout Southern California and beyond. The S. Mark Taper Health Innovation Center will be home to Healthier Living, a program offering chronic disease self management tools to individuals living with chronic illnesses including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis just to name a few. Matter of Balance uses easy-to-do strengthening exercises to increase stability and prevent falls. These programs and many more will be expanded and evaluated at the S. Mark Taper Health Innovation Center. “The S. Mark Taper Foundation is extremely proud to lend its name and provide support for expansion of Partners very successful health education programs and services for low-income and aging populations. This new facility will provide much needed health education resources to local community members,” said Executive Director Ray Reisler. “Partners in Care is an innovative organization and we are delighted to provide support,” continued Mr. Reisler.

Partners in Care has been delivering health education programs to the local community, and throughout Los Angeles County for more than 10 years. With the expansion of its facilities in San Fernando, Partners will be positioned to grow and deliver an even greater array of programs. The facility is scheduled to be complete by April 2010.
