College Station, TX, January 13, 2010 --( Ronald B. Robot-assisted or daVinci thyroid surgery allows Dr. Kuppersmith to remove the thyroid without any neck incisions, eliminating the traditional post-operative neck scars, while improved high definition three-dimensional visualization and more precise control of surgical instruments compared to standard or even “minimally invasive” techniques.

This innovative technique was pioneered in Korea by Woong Youn Chung, MD of Yonsei University College of Medicine and has demonstrated the potential to reduce the risk of damage to the laryngeal nerve and parathyroid glands. Kuppersmith spent time in Korea studying the technique with Dr. Chung, and has been invited to speak about the technique at multiple national and international medical conferences.
