Roseanne Barr Performs at The Hard Rock Cafe on Maui

Lahaina, HI, January 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Roseanne Barr discovers Hard Rock Maui

It’s been a long time since a star with the name recognition of Roseanne Barr has performed in a venue with a capacity of less than 300, but this past Friday night, that’s just what happened at The Hard Rock Café in Lahaina when the legendary comic took to the stage as part of Brian Evans’ “The Maui Celebrity Series at The Hard Rock Café.”

Last month, Evans brought William Shatner to the island.

“We are doing a show or two a month, and our aim is to help bring attention back to the state,” says Evans, who created the series with the help of some pretty influential friends in Los Angeles. Evans is the opening act for such stars as Jay Leno and Joan Rivers, to name a few. In fact, bringing attention to the state from the outside world has also resulted in attention from the inside of it, as Governor Linda Lingle issued a Commendation to Evans last week for accomplishing just that.

In Lingle’s Commendation to Evans, the Governor of Hawaii stated Evans work is “particularly meaningful during these difficult economic times.”

After Evans, who is a crooner in the style of Frank Sinatra, performed several opening songs, Roseanne Barr performed a set lasting over an hour.

“The crowd was beside themselves,” says Evans. “The Hard Rock really has been an amazing foundation on which to build this series, and they have never second guessed my vision in all of this. They’ve really been on the same page in terms of us all being in this together,” says Evans. “Roseanne proved that her comedy remains as relevant as it ever was, and the crowd could not get enough of her.”

Evans is also the creator of “Horrorscope”, alongside childhood friend Ahmet Zappa. “Horrorscope” is being developed into a graphic novel, with sights set on it also being a major motion picture, as well as a vehicle for video games and toys. Evans is also working on his own major label debut, which will feature a duet with Kelly Osbourne.

Next up for “The Maui Celebrity Series at The Hard Rock Café” is Hal Sparks and Brian Evans – Live at The Hard Rock, on February 27th, 2010. Sparks was the former host of “Talk Soup,” and starred as “Michael” in the groundbreaking Showtime hit “Queer as Folk.”

“Following the February 27th performance, it’s my intention to move The Maui Celebrity Series to The Maui Theatre, with The Hard Rock still presenting. Following each show at the theatre, an after-party would take place at Hard Rock, literally across the street from the new venue,” says Evans. “The demand simply warrants this,” he adds.

Since beginning the series, coverage has been international. From Robin Leach’s top rated entertainment blog to media in China, India, and Europe, “The Maui Celebrity Series at The Hard Rock Café” has become an instant hit on the island of Maui.

The series is produced by Brian Evans, Andrew Biltz, and Arman Zajic. For more information on The Maui Celebrity Series visit www.themauicelebrityseries.com.
