Big Changes for Little Spoon: Los Angeles-Based Gourmet Dessert Company Abandons Their Food Truck, Expanding Operations Citywide

Los Angeles, CA, January 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Little Spoon Desserts, a gourmet dessert company established last year, is now cutting their mobile means and expanding in a big way. Founded by industrious entrepreneurs Melissa Hanna, 22, and Laurel Tincher, 21, Little Spoon will be the first specialty company to bid farewell to their gourmet food truck and expand their operation citywide to include a wholesale division that enables custom desserts to be available on all gourmet food trucks and serves the restaurant, hotel and special event industries.

The Little Spoon Desserts experience will now be available on gourmet food trucks across Los Angeles, beginning as soon as next week. This growing list of trucks will feature exclusive items from the Little Spoon Signature Dessert Collection. This marks an unprecedented shift in the LA food truck industry, as for the first time, gourmet products from a common brand will be available on trucks around the city.

Each truck involved in the partnership will be an exclusive purveyor of one or more unique Little Spoon desserts that have been specially designed to pair with that truck's particular cuisine.

The Nom Nom Truck, serving up Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches, plans to pair their entrées with lemon, coconut, and ginger flavored pastries. The Willoughby Road Truck, which puts a new spin on classic Southern cuisine, intends to add the Little Spoon Signature Caramel Cinnamon Pecan Bar and the Double Fudge Brownie to their menu. “We are looking forward to the opportunity to work with Little Spoon. Desserts will be the perfect addition to our Southern menu,” says Willoughby's co-owner and chef, Jeshua Garza.

Keeping with Little Spoon’s philosophy of "Collaboration Leads to Success," owners Hanna and Tincher hope to see increased business for their partner trucks, and will launch a cross-marketing campaign to promote them using the Little Spoon website, Twitter account, and Facebook fan page.

Little Spoon will also launch a full line of vegan gourmet desserts. The Little Spoon Vegan Collection includes a variety of layer cakes, tarts, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies, featuring enticing flavors like raspberry fudge, pineapple, coconut, green tea, and mocha. The desserts will be available in various cafes and retail locations throughout Greater Los Angeles, including each of the Groundwork Coffee Cafes.

Groundwork Operations Manager, Robert Mozejewski commented, "Groundwork is very excited about offering Little Spoon vegan layer cakes in our stores and we know our customers will respond well."

Mozejewski also noted that "A kick-off product launch tentatively scheduled for Thursday, February 11th or Friday the 12th will be announced to all Groundwork customers. The evening will include coffee and Little Spoon vegan desserts, and may include live music."

Little Spoon will be broadening their catering services as well, which are currently available for weddings, film and television studios, and, corporate and private events. Beginning in February, the company will offer an extended list of customizable, themed dessert catering packages and additional event planning services upon request.

“The Little Spoon team offers unique and delicious specialty desserts that I can actually visualize in so many of the events I produce,” says Alexandra Rembac, owner of Sterling Engagements, a boutique event design and production firm in Agoura Hills. “Specifically with weddings, a hot trend right now is chic dessert buffets. The intricate detail their desserts showcase make me want to build their sweets into every event we plan,” she added.

Produced through collaborations with several talented bakers and entrepreneurs including Berta Ujeta, Mindy Trotta, Logan Levant, and others, Little Spoon’s various product lines feature an artistically-inspired selection of desserts that are known for being as pleasing to the eyes as they are to the palate.

In keeping with Hanna and Tincher's passion for art, fashion, and culture, next month will also celebrate the launch of their spring 2010 line of Couture Cupcakes. Flavors will include Espresso, Lemon Ginger, Spiced Chocolate, and Green Tea White Chocolate. These cupcakes will soon be available on select
gourmet food trucks as well as for catering orders.

With backgrounds in event production, Hanna and Tincher plan to host art events and sample sales in a beautiful downtown LA loft this spring, where the Couture Cupcake line will be launched. The events will bring together talented and innovative artists, designers, and musicians to showcase and sell their work.

This expansion is just the beginning for Little Spoon Desserts, as owners Hanna and Tincher tend to dream big.
