RedVector’s New Green Building Education Programs Let LEED APs Upgrade Without Retesting

Tampa, FL, January 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Targeted packages allow 100,000+ professionals with LEED AP credentials to attain their specialty designation through online education courses until fall 2011

RedVector, the leader in online continuing education for the green design and construction community, has sorted through the numerous GBCI’s category requirements and put together two USGBC-approved LEED AP Prescriptive Credentialing Maintenance Programs (CMPs). The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), which manages the internationally recognized LEED green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is offering “Legacy” LEED APs a one-time window of opportunity to upgrade to a specialty designation that meets the requirements of LEED V.3 without requiring them to re-take the LEED AP Exam. Instead, Legacy LEED APs who want to upgrade can do so by completing a prescribed number of continuing education hours in specific categories.

The pre-selected courses within each of RedVector’s two new packages enable LEED APs without a specialty (and those whose specialties have been replaced) to upgrade to either a Building Design and Construction (BD+C) or Operations and Maintenance (OM) designation. LEED professionals can upgrade without the time-consuming effort of figuring out which courses apply to what category, since the selections in both the LEED AP Prescriptive Credentialing Maintenance Program (CMP) for Building Design and Construction (BD+C) 30-hour package and the LEED AP Prescriptive Credentialing Maintenance Program (CMP) for Operations and Maintenance (O+M) 31-hour package contain all the materials necessary for compliance. Students can self-report when the programs have been completed.

“We worked closely with the faculty at the University of Tennessee’s College of Architecture and Design when we reviewed the GBCI requirements, and chose courses that apply in more than one GBCI category wherever we could,” says RedVector’s Jeff Nippes, Product Development Coordinator. “We wanted to take the guesswork out of compliance and enhance convenience, so that students could skip worrying and concentrate on the business of learning.”

LEED APs (without specialty) can view their enrollment window through My Credentials at www.gbci.org. The last enrollment windows close October 27, 2011.
