Highland Homes Caters to Florida Home Shoppers

In the past year, Highland Homes has adapted their business model to cater to the demands of home shoppers in the new Florida real estate market.

Lakeland, FL, January 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In the past year, Highland Homes has adapted their business model to cater to the demands of home shoppers in the new Florida real estate market. Since 2004, new home buyers have made it apparent that they are not interested in paying for homes built in excess of 3,000 square feet. These expansive homes come with too many extra expenses associated with wasted energy, and they really offer too much space to fill with guests. The high ceilings and large floor plans buyers insisted on having just a few years ago have now been replaced with a more modest floor plan. The current state of the economy has everyone thinking more logically about utility bills and wasted space when it comes to purchasing a home.

Highland Homes has witnessed the need for smaller, more compact floor plans. Their current number one selling floor plan, the Cameron, is a three bedroom/two bath home with a two-car garage and just over 1,250 square feet.

Buyers want floor plans that are more energy-efficient with less space and less waste plus a little bit of luxury. To satisfy these desires, Highland Homes offers a luxury spa bath in most of their floor plans, among other fine finishes. The master bath includes a large walk-in closet, plus a garden tub, separate shower and double sink vanity. While Highland Homes offers less space, home shoppers do not have to sacrifice luxury.

The builder also includes a feature that no other central Florida home builder offers as a final touch to most of their floor plans. The company not only includes a covered lanai to most of their plans, but they also include a screen enclosure and door that would typically cost thousands of dollars more with other builders.

The company has reviewed their catalog of plans to provide buyers with what they want and need and have met these demands with newly improved plans. In 2009 over 60% of all floor plans for Highland Homes were less than 2,000 square feet. This statistic is similar to what was recently reported in a Florida Realtor web story.
