Donates Medicines to Haiti

Canada's leading Jewish media site joins the UJA in assisting Haiti.

Toronto, Canada, February 05, 2010 --( As relief efforts continue in earthquake stricken Haiti, Shalom Life Media Inc. has announced a donation of medicines to the island.

The medicines will be flown from Miami and are scheduled to arrive in Haiti on Thursday, February 4. Shalom Life will be donating $100,000 on behalf of the State of Israel through the United Jewish Appeal of Greater Toronto to Operation Blessing, an organization specializing in disaster relief.

Among the medication donated will be anesthetics, anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drugs, antibacterials, drugs affecting the blood, dermatological drugs, disinfectants, psychotherapeutic drugs, as well as vitamins and minerals.

“We are blessed to be able to help those in need in Haiti and are extremely proud of the dedication and experience shown by the governments of Israel and Canada in responding to this disaster in the quick and effective manner with which they did,” said Stephen Arbib, President of Shalom Life Media Inc.

Relief efforts are ongoing in Haiti following the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the island on January 12, and are now concentrating on pulling bodies from the rubble of collapsed buildings, as well as providing medical care to the many individuals injured as a result of the catastrophe.
