Worldwide Medical Partners and Phoenix Healthcare Foundation Relief Efforts in Haiti

Miami, FL, February 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In response to Haiti’s immediate needs, Worldwide Medical Partners (www.wmpmedical.com) and Phoenix Healthcare Foundation (PHF) (www.phfcaeres.org) has been working in Haiti in collaboration with the nonprofit EcoWorks International (www.ecowroksinternational.org) since January 13th.

Their joint efforts have resulted in the development and implementation of a seamless and effective medical and nutritional relief initiative that brings direct help to those in need. In Miami, our WMP/PHF are in charge of the logistics involved in procuring and sending medical personnel and supplies with the US Southern Command as well as transportation from Miami to Homestead. In Port Au Prince EcoWorks is in charge of receiving and distributing the volunteers and supplies, as well as organizing lodging accommodations, transportation and safety for their volunteers.

To date, the joint efforts have amounted to:
· 76 support and allied healthcare personnel including MD’s, Nurses and Paramedics
· Set up a maternity ward in Bernard Mevs Hospital
· Set up a soup kitchen that serves 250 cooked nourishing meals a day at the Bernard Mevs Hospital
· Distributed rice, beans and cooking oil to 10,000 people in and around port-au-Prince.
· Installed water purification systems which purify 74,000 gallons each day per system and supplies water to 70,000 Haitians.

Those efforts have been supported by many individual charitable contributions, as well as funded by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) in Miami, the Saron Church of Linton, Indiana, the JDC New York and the Board Members of the Phoenix Healthcare Foundation.

WMP and PHF are also planning a charity event with the support of the University of Miami, the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Heat and many local artists, to raise funds for the purchase of several ambulances to be sent to Haiti. For more information on the event please contact Dr. Bibi Gomberg at bgomberg@phfcares.org

After the need for relief efforts is no longer urgent, Worldwide Medical Partners and Phoenix Healthcare Foundation will continue with their long term project of setting up sustainable healthcare centers in the province of Gaunthier, Haiti.
