Online Dating for the Academically Elite Launches at Pondigo.com

A new website waded into the online dating waters promising to become the online dating destination for single alumni from our nation’s top colleges, universities, and graduate programs. Includes Proprietary Features Including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator.

Los Angeles, CA, February 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday, Valentine’s Day, a new website waded into the online dating waters promising to become The online dating destination for single alumni from our nation’s top colleges, universities, and graduate programs.

The brainchild of sports industry executive, entrepreneur, and seasoned online dater, Jen Rottenberg, Pondigo (as in: “If I want to find my soulmate, rather than fishing in the vast ocean of online prospects, it’s to the Pond I Go”) verifies that all of its members are graduates of a short list of top academic programs ranging from Harvard University to Stanford Business School, Amherst College to the University of Virginia Law School.

In addition to Rottenberg (a Princeton University and Harvard Business School grad), the founding team includes Daniel Brescoll (Princeton and Georgetown Law), UCLA Professor Dario Nardi (a USC grad), and lead developers Clay Marshall of Trestle Media and Alain Darwich of Simple Imagination.

According to Rottenberg: “We thought: if we are going to the trouble of creating this site from scratch; if our objective is to help individuals find their best matches – hopefully their soulmates; then isn’t it our obligation to not only better define the parameters within which they search (carve out the academically elite pond from the larger ocean), but to also create the most efficient and effective online matching system available today?”

Besides membership verification, unique Pondigo site features include: integrating the world-renowned, personality test: the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, into user profiles, so that members can be matched with others having compatible personalities; advice from noted Myers-Briggs expert Nardi; a proprietary, patent-pending, user-controlled search criteria prioritization system, allowing members to receive the most relevant search results; advanced photo editing tools allowing users to best present themselves; Courtesy Rankings to encourage respectful online interaction (something that many singles forget in the anonymous world of online dating); and helpful Notepad functionality to assist members in keeping track of the members they meet. More specifics can be found in the “About Pondigo” section of the website.

Membership in the site is limited to bachelor’s degree graduates of the nation’s top 35 universities and top 35 small colleges; the top 25 graduate programs in business, law, and medicine, all as ranked in US News & World Report 2009; as well as a select group of top international universities (such as Oxford and Cambridge) and creative arts programs (such as Julliard). Over time, the site will expand slightly to include graduates of top graduate programs in other fields and may add other schools based on member suggestions of compatible programs. This very select group of single alumni is projected to comprise no more than 1 million singles out of a total US population greater than 300 million. According to Rottenberg, “we’re going after compatible quality, not quantity.”
