The school is requesting high school students to register for this summer mission in which they can earn credits for Grades 9, 10 and 11.

Toronto, Canada, February 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Leading private Christian Toronto Montessori Prep School, Cornerstone, has announced its inaugural summer school course and mission for secondary school students. In collaboration with CCSET International Academy in Antigua, Cornerstone Montessori Prep School is inviting registrations to “Antigua Drama Mission – Summer 2010”. Participation is open to students of Cornerstone, as well as to other secondary school students. This academic Christian mission trip will gather students from all over Canada and various parts of the Caribbean for an international learning experience. The highlight of the trip will be a full length musical theatre production to be staged at the end of the mission trip by these summer school students along with young people from Antigua.

Cornerstone Montessori Prep School Administrator and Principal, Dr. Stephanie Ling says, “In following our Montessori philosophy during Cornerstone's Summer School programme, we are introducing a mission component. We see this is as a way of integrating a global experience for any student who wishes to participate in this combined missions and secondary school credit course. We hope to create a desire in our students to reach out to others not only in their immediate community, but to those in other parts of the world. Their experience by full immersion in another culture will give them a greater understanding and respect for the richness that cultural diversity can bring to one's life. The ultimate goal of this Antigua Drama Mission is to plant a growing desire for lifelong learning in our students’ minds and hearts."

Following Canadian and international academic standards, students will be offered a practical Christian ministry experience. The mission will seek to introduce students to the call of Christ and encourage Christ-followers through the arts, including drama and public speaking. Students will also carry out practical ministry through drama at various churches and open-air settings while in Antigua.

Courses will be offered in Grade 10 Leadership and Peer Development, and Open Drama for Grades 9, 10 and 11. All credit courses follow curriculum guidelines set by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Credits are recognized nationally and internationally and can be applied towards High School Diplomas throughout North America and the Caribbean. Canadian students will also be able to acquire 10 of the required 40 hours for Community Service in Antigua through hands-on projects with local Christian ministries. More information about the mission trip and application forms can be obtained on the Toronto Montessori Prep School’s website at www.CornerstonePrep.ca. The deadline for registration is March 10, 2010.
