Dry skin care begins with knowing the right time of the year to accommodate your skin type:

The status of dry skin varies according to the weather and the seasons. When the seasons change, you need to change up your skin care routine as well. Moisturizer is dry skin care's best friend, so use it! In the summer, use a lightly formulated moisturizer that won't feel heavy or greasy on your skin. When winter rolls around, switch up to a creamier moisturizer. This kind of moisturizer is made to handle the cold weather and works harder to keep your skin from drying out. The skincare ingredients you need to check for when it comes to finding a good moisturizer include glycerin, alpha hydroxy acids, urea and lactic acids, combined with petrolatum, lanolin or silicone derivatives.

This article offers a different approach to prepping dry skin before taking a bath or shower:

Before you step into the shower or bath, do your skin a favor by giving your body a dry skin brushing. Take a loofah or soft body brush and make circular motions all over your body, which will remove flaky, dead skin cells. Don't brush too hard or you'll irritate your skin.

For people with dry skin, pampering themselves with a hot bath or soak in the hot tub isn’t ideal for their skin, but there is a new twist that can be applied to taking a relaxing bath:

Taking a luxurious bath is definitely a skincare treat but make sure to keep your skin condition in mind. Hot baths or going into a hot tub may be great for relaxing, but it's a skin care nightmare for dry skin. Avoid hot tubs and when it comes to taking baths, go for warm water as opposed to hot. Hot baths only succeed in stripping away the oils from your skin. It's also best to take short baths instead of long ones. As sad as it may be, dry skin types have to say "bye-bye" to bubble baths. A lot of bubble bath mixes tend to dry the skin out, which won't help you out in the least. Instead make your bath even more indulgent by adding bath oils made for locking in the moisture while you bathe. For homemade bath oil, you can add a few teaspoons of non-virgin olive oil or lavender-scented oil to your bath. To avoid possible skin irritation, stay away from botanicals, fragrances and preservatives.

According to skin care expert, Stephanie Brown, there are too many factors for dry skin care that many people may be neglecting. “I knew I had to continue this type of article because people with dry skin tend to have the most difficulty in maintaining their skin, so I knew that this article would help lessen the stress of keeping dry skin protected.”
