States Proclaim March as National Caffeine Awareness Month

Seattle, WA, February 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The governors of 3 states along with the mayors of 4 cities have all signed proclamations declaring March as National Caffeine Awareness Month to call attention to the dangers of caffeine dependency and intoxication. They all agree that prolonged caffeine consumption can pose a significant hazard to health and longevity.

“We are delighted to have them recognize the health risk associated with this ubiquitous drug” says Marina Kushner, founder of the Caffeine Awareness Association, a non-profit organization, which sponsors the event. “Caffeine-induced stress can produce mood swings and insomnia, increased muscle tension, impair digestion and nutrition, restrict blood circulation to the brain, raise blood pressure and accelerate the heart rate.”

The 3 states are Nebraska, Connecticut, and Oklahoma. The 4 cities that have issued proclamations so far have been Euless and Grapevine Texas, Roanoke Virginia, and Buffalo New York. Other states and cities are expected to issue similar proclamations.

“The event is in its seventh year and we have been gaining support from the medical community. Some even sponsor “wellness fairs” to help educate and inform their patients as well as introduce them to healthy alternatives” said Kushner

Kushner strives to educate consumers through her 2 books "The Truth About Caffeine” and “The Truth about Coffee.” The books have been described by critics as a “wake-up call” about caffeine and reveals “frightening evidence” of the damage caffeine can cause The books expose the serious physical and psychological effects of caffeine and the damaging effects it has to your health.
