2010 Cause Conference to Focus on Nonprofit Marketing Strategies to Beat Recession

San Diego's American Marketing Association reaches out to distressed nonprofits with new marketing and fundraising strategies

San Diego, CA, March 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Just a few days to go until the AMA’s premier event for local nonprofits in need of some new ideas and energy. Keynote speakers at the American Marketing Association’s 12th Annual Cause Conference include Will Marre, co-founder of the Covey Leadership Center and Jocelyn Daw, author of “Cause Marketing for Nonprofits.” The event takes place next Wednesday, March 10 at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice at the University of San Diego.

“There has never been a more important time than now to equip nonprofits with new fundraising and marketing strategies,” said Deirdre Maloney, co-chair of the conference. “The economic recession continues to take a toll. Fundraisers are in need of new ideas to reach and inspire donors to give, give differently, and give now. The speakers, sessions and networking opportunities at this year’s AMA conference will help San Diego’s nonprofits find success in 2010 and beyond.”

Conference registration rates are on par with prior year pricing, thanks in part to the support of local companies including Sempra Energy, Mission Federal and Barona Resort & Casino. Visit the conference Web site for a complete list of event sponsors.

In addition to keynote speakers, breakout sessions offer practical advice on fundraising to the savvy donor, creating corporate proposals that work, and integrating manageable marketing strategies into the organization. Other features include the annual Olympiad competition, where six pre-selected nonprofit organizations compete for a chance to win a graphics or video package valued at $10,000. The competition is sponsored by San Diego Social Venture Partners and audience will select the winning presentation. Competitors include the Community Coaching Center, Nativity Prep Academy, North County Trade Tech Charter High School, Reality Changers, Words Alive and Health Sciences High School / Middle College Charter School.

This year’s Cause Conference has taken on an expanded social media presence. Live Twitter feeds will follow conference buzz and guest bloggers Heather Carpenter and Jessica Van Der Stad will be onsite to cover the conference for their respective blogs Nonprofit Leadership 601 and AMA San Diego Cause Conference. Those unable to attend the conference can also catch live conference sessions via streaming video for a reduced rate of $35 (advance registration required).

The 12th Annual AMA Cause Conference officially gets underway Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30am at USD’s Joan B. Kroc Center for Peace and Justice, with the first presentation starting at 8am. For more information, visit www.sdama.org.
