SQL Server Expert Richard Waymire Joins Solid Quality Mentors

Well-known SQL Server expert and active community supporter Richard Waymire brings his rich HA/DR and manageability experience to the SolidQ team after more than a decade of leadership at Microsoft.

Reston, VA, March 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Solid Quality Mentors is excited to announce that well-known SQL Server expert and active community supporter Richard Waymire has joined its team of elite trainers and mentors after more than a decade of leadership at Microsoft.

“We have very high metrics for reviewing new mentor candidates—we’re not only interested in their technical expertise, but in their willingness to share their knowledge with peers, our customers, and the community,” says SolidQ CEO and co-founder Fernando Guerrero. “Richard has always been a key reference in the global SQL Server community, especially for MCTs and MVPs. Everyone at Solid Quality Mentors is eager to work with him, and I am sure that our customers will appreciate his wide knowledge about and experience with the Microsoft Data platform.”

Richard, who most recently served as principal program manager for the SQL Server Engine team, has participated in more than eight release cycles in his 11+ years at Microsoft. He brings with him deep knowledge of SQL Server’s high availability, disaster recovery, and manageability features as former group program manager for SQL Server Management Tools and was program manager on the SQL Server Business Intelligence team that delivered SQL Server 2005’s game-changing BI features. He has also served as senior program manager for Visual Studio Team Data as well as a program manager for MapPoint Location Server.

“Solid Quality is honored to add Richard to our mentor ranks—he represents our elite technical capabilities coupled with deep understanding of client needs,” says Douglas McDowell, SolidQ CEO, North America. “Richard’s capabilities will be instrumental for training, mentoring, and solution delivery across all of our core practice areas: relational database, BI, and development/collaboration. We look forward to delivering unmatched client value with Richard as a part of our unequalled roster of world-class experts.”

Richard began his SQL Server career as a database administrator and programmer. And as a SQL Server trainer before joining Microsoft, Richard was recognized as a SQL Server Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in the mid-1990s, in the early days of the program. He is a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Solutions Developer, and Systems Engineer + Internet.

"I'm really looking forward to working with the great folks from SolidQ,” Richard notes. “I've known most of the founders and mentors for many, many years, and I’m excited to be rejoining the community of consultants and trainers."

Richard is a contributing editor and columnist for SQL Server Magazine and co-author and author of SAMS Teach Yourself SQL Server 7.0 in 21 Days and SAMS Teach Yourself SQL Server 2000 in 21 Days, respectively. He also co-wrote Designing Secure Web-based Applications with Microsoft Windows 2000 (MS Press) and has served as technical editor for many SQL Server and Windows Technology books and white papers. Richard is the immediate past president of the Pacific Northwest SQL Server User Group.

“Richard has been my friend for more than 15 years and a staple of the SQL Server community for even longer,” says SolidQ Managing Director and co-founder Brian Moran. “We’re honored to have Richard join the SolidQ family, which currently numbers more than 100 mentors in over 20 countries, including more past and present SQL Server MVPs than any company in the world.”
