New Website Created to Unite South Bay Salsa Dancers

SalsaSouthBay.com was created by a Redondo Beach resident and long time Latin dance lover as an online space for Latin and ballroom dancers living in the South Bay.

Redondo Beach, CA, March 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Redondo Beach resident Johnnya Center recently launched the website SalsaSouthBay.com.

SalsaSouthBay.com is the go-to site for Salsa and ballroom dancers living in the South Bay, Los Angeles County. The website contains a directory of local Latin dance and ballroom instructors, as well as a calendar of Salsa dance events and venues exclusive to the South Bay. The main feature of the site is the Salsa blog which appears on the main page of the site. This space contains articles from local dancers and instructors. The subjects range from personal experiences to educational pieces.

“I really wanted to create a place for dance enthusiasts in the South Bay to express themselves and find out where to go to connect with each other and/or learn to dance”, says Center.

Johnnya moved to Redondo Beach, CA 3 years ago. One of the first things she did once she got settled in was search for a place to go Salsa dancing near her new home.

“I spent over 2 hours on the computer looking for a place to dance down here and came up empty. I ended up driving into the greater Los Angeles area. I was disappointed to say the least, but I knew there was a community of dancers in the South Bay and I was determined to find them.”

Center found a lot of general dance websites and businesses, but not much of anything specific to the South Bay. After months of research, Center has identified some of the best instructors and places to go for Salsa and ballroom lessons in the South Bay and Long Beach. She personally reached out to instructors and promoters, asking them where they are based and if they were willing to be listed on the site.

“My work continues of course. I haven’t found and posted everything, but I am off to a good start. At least if someone is new to the area they can come to SalsaSouthBay.com and get started. I’m also very excited about the overwhelming amount of support I am getting from local dancers for the site”, says Center.

In just a month’s time SalsaSouthbay.com has rounded up over 400 fans on Facebook.

“Dancing is so much fun and a lot of people are into it or want to learn, they just often don’t know where to start. With so many TV shows popularizing dance, the interest is definitely there, what has been lacking in the South Bay is a resource for those looking to learn or simply go out and dance. I’m very happy to provide this informational source for our South Bay dance community”, says Center.

Center hopes to also host South Bay dance events, and give-aways in connection to the website.
