AuPairCare 2nd Annual Share a Bear in the Memphis Area

Au pairs from the Memphis area got together to create bears at the Build a Bear workshop to donate to LeBonheur Children's Hospital.

Memphis, TN, March 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- A group of au pairs teamed up with Build-A-Bear Workshop store in Carriage Crossing Mall in Collierville to create individual bears to give to the children on LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center. After only being in the area for a short time, these young adults decided to give back to others in the community. The au pairs are from all over the world and have come to live in the Memphis area for 1 year to help care for families’ children and learn more about our culture. Each au pair created a bear and picked out clothing to dress it. The bears were then named and given a birth date. The au pairs had a wonderful time creating these furry friends for their new friends at Le Bonheur. They were able to learn more about the value of giving and sharing their culture with others.

Au Pair Care has teamed up with Build-A-Bear Workshop stores nationwide for their second annual Share-A-Bear campaign. This event invited au pairs to give back to their local communities by making a bear to be donated to a local children’s charity. Last year, AuPairCare held over 100 events nationwide donating 1800 furry friends to over 100 local charities. Heidi Woehl, VP of AuPairCare, says “AuPairCare is present in many of same areas as Build-A-Bear Workshop stores and their motto that “a bear hug is understood in any language” is very much in-line with the role an au pair can play in the life of a child and host family. We are very excited about our continued partnership and the opportunity for our au pairs who make a difference in the lives of the children they care for, to extend the spirit of international friendship through these bears to other children in their area.”

This event was organized by the Area Director, Jessica Anderson. If you would like more information about the program, call her at 901.786.2594 or check out the website at www.aupaircare.com
