Curves Clubs of Pinellas County Host 12th Annual Food Drive to Benefit Local Families

Clubs offer an Opportunity to Waive Initial Joining Fee for Bag of Groceries

St. Petersburg, FL, March 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Curves clubs of Pinellas County are encouraging women in the area to show their philanthropic strength by participating in their 12th Annual Curves Food Drive. And, even though donating food to families in need is its own reward, some of the clubs are offering tangible rewards, including a great opportunity to join and have the initial joining fee waived.

Non-members who donate a bag of groceries between March 8th and 20th will have a great opportunity to join Curves without paying the Service Fee, the initial cost of membership.

Whether you are an existing member, are considering joining or just want to participate to help your community food pantry, all the Curves of Pinellas County will collect non-perishable items and monetary donations for food banks from March 1st through March 31st. The goal, according to Linda Beaulieu of Curves of Pinellas Park South, speaking for all the Curves of Pinellas County, is for the community to come together to help families in need. "At the core of our business is the message that women are stronger when they rally together, and that is the point we hope to bring home with our food drive," said Beaulieu. "We want to show our community just how powerful the generosity of our members can be."

As part of this effort, the Curves of Pinellas County will be participating in a company-wide contest for the most food drive donations collected by Curves locations across the nation. Winners will receive one of several cash prizes to be donated to their local food bank. Each year, Curves locations collectively donate millions of pounds of food to feed the hungry.

"We hope the women of Pinellas County will come together and participate in this initiative," added Linda Beaulieu. "Even if you’re not thinking about joining a gym, you can still drop off your donations. There are so many families – right here in our own community – who need our help."
