Nurse Next Door's Dreams Program Sends Caregiver on Trip to Prince Edward Island

Nurse Next Door's brand new Dreams Program focuses on helping it's more than 1,000 employees across Canada achieve their personal dreams.

Vancouver, Canada, March 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- While most companies have scaled back on employee rewards programs, Vancouver-based Nurse Next Door, a private in-home senior care franchise system and British Columbia’s number one employer has launched its most innovative rewards program to date.

Nurse Next Door’s brand new Dreams Program focuses on helping it’s more than 1,000 employees across Canada achieve their personal dreams. The inaugural grand prize winner, Oakville caregiver Lorrell C., recently saw her dream come true with an all expenses paid trip for her and her sister to Prince Edward Island. Lorrell’s dream was selected after stacks of entries from across Canada were put forward.

“This program is really about helping our employees from across Canada dream and strive to reach their personal goals,” said Nurse Next Door Co-Founder John DeHart. “Lorrell’s submission was extremely touching and we’re so happy we have been able to make her smile.”

In the spring of 2002, Lorrell and her mother Margaret took a trip they wouldn’t soon forget. The two had been dreaming of a trip together for many years and were finally able to take one when they visited beautiful Prince Edward Island.

Lorrell’s sister, Dale, was also supposed to come along but unfortunately wasn’t able to make the trip. Figuring that Dale could come along on the next trip, Lorrell and her mother took the chance at some much needed R&R on the island.

Unfortunately, though, the chance wouldn’t come by again. After their return, Margaret was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Sadly, less than a year later she passed away.

“Mom talked about how great PEI was right up until she passed away,” said Lorrell. “My dream was really to take my sister back there to show her what mom and I experienced so she could be a part of that wonderful memory in some way. When I was told I’d been selected, I was totally overwhelmed,” added Lorrell. “This means so much to me and I am so grateful to everyone who made this possible.”

Nurse Next Door’s Dreams Program will continue to solicit dreams from employees across Canada in an effort to help them come true.

“It’s our innovative rewards programs that have made us one of Canada’s top employers,” added DeHart. “We’re very excited about this program and the difference it will make in the lives of our caregivers.”
