Fizzik Unveiled as Browser Built for Social Multimedia

Browser entrant Fizzik offers Web users a new way to tap into online news streams, video and social media.

Kirkland, WA, March 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Spry Hive Industries LLC., a developer of next-generation Internet applications, today announced the upcoming beta release of Fizzik, a new type of Web browser optimized for online news, video, and social media content. Based on Microsoft technologies, Fizzik combines the most powerful search and multimedia sharing tools available to give Web users a seamless way to enjoy the Internet. Fizzik will be available as a free download for users who register at www.fizzik.com.

Keep Up With the Web Seamlessly
As today’s Web grows in size and in ways never imagined, Internet users have moved from consuming individual HTML pages to multiple streams of multimedia content. Fizzik is a new type of Web browser optimized for this new reality, one that integrates with leading search, social feed, and communication services to offer users a single place from which they can tap into the constantly changing world of online news, video, and social media.

“Fizzik was built to help people get more out of the great multimedia content that’s available on the Web," said Paul Scarpa, CEO and co-founder of Spry Hive. "The problem is age-old: Web users spend too much time looking for content, either in search results or in social streams, and not enough time actually enjoying it. We thought the right way to address this was to rebuild the browser from the ground up around the needs of today’s Internet user.”

A Whole New Way to Get News, Video, and Social Media

Key features of Fizzik beta version 0.20 include the following:
Scan the Web, Track the News - Fizzik leverages the powerful search capabilities of Bing, YouTube and Twitter to make it easy to keep up with online news and multimedia. Fizzik displays search results adjacent to Web content, enabling users to flip through items and quickly scan content rather than toggle back and forth between search results and Web pages. The application also supports an easy and manageable mechanism for saving searches into “Fizzik Channels,” allowing users track news and developments in their areas of interest as well as refine those searches over time. By making the scanning and saving of Web content easy, Fizzik looks to make consuming content feeds as casual and entertaining as reading the newspaper.

More Multimedia, Fewer Distractions - Fizzik gives users a more cinematic online video experience. By integrating directly with Web services such as YouTube, Fizzik users need not evaluate pages of text descriptions and thumbnails or load multimedia players embedded in Web pages. Rather, Fizzik lets users simply type in a query and immediately start watching their favorite multimedia content, without the distractions associated with presenting video on Web pages. With Fizzik, online video is as immersive, engaging and controllable as television.

Unlock Social & Multimedia Content - Fizzik puts the “media” back into “social media” by automatically displaying the content that is so often referenced by URLs in social status updates. Additionally, Fizzik lets users quickly share links using Gmail, Facebook, and Twitter, a few of the most popular services people use to exchange content on the Web. And unlike many existing social media clients, Fizzik indexes and stores all the items that users post and bookmark in a private database, allowing them to easily locate, enjoy and republish their favorite multimedia content.

Fizzik was built using Microsoft .NET and Windows Presentation Foundation 3.5 and is compatible with most Windows operating systems. It embeds Microsoft’s Internet Explorer for Web browsing, Adobe’s Flash player for video, and integrates with search, content, and communications services available from Microsoft, Google, Twitter and Facebook.

Fizzik will be available as a free download for users who register at www.fizzik.com.
