Free Net Business Solutions (FREENET) Supports Earth Hour 2010

FREENET switches off to pledge its support for Earth Hour 2010.

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, March 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In support of Earth Hour which was held on 27th March, 2010 the lights in FREENET’s Data Center and Network Operation Center (NOC) were switched off for 1 hour from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m to reduce the usage of electricity and subsequently, lesser greenhouse gas emission. Earth Hour 2010 marks the first year that FREENET has pledged its support.

Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature or better known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually. The goal of the event is to ask households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour with the hope of raising awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

This climate awareness campaign serves as a significant reminder to the community about the type of global warming the earth is facing, such as the rising of temperature and sea levels, drought, famine and changing landscape. Earth Hour is not only about switching off lights for one hour once a year, but also about giving people a voice on the future of our planet and working together to create a sustainable low carbon future for our planet.
