Employment Law Workshop Scheduled for Montgomery County Non-Profits

Rockville, MD, April 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Montgomery Alliance for Community Giving www.montgomeryalliance.org and the law firm of Shulman Rogers announce the first in a series of workshops for Montgomery County’s non-profit organizations.

Employment Law Fundamentals for Maryland-based Organizations is scheduled for 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 20 at the Shulman Rogers Conference Center, 12505 Park Potomac Ave., Sixth Floor, Potomac, MD 20854.

Admission is free for representatives of non-profit agencies and organizations; advance registration is required.

“As Montgomery Alliance distributes its donated funds to area non-profits, we’ve noticed a growing need for these organizations to address business issues,” says Montgomery Alliance President Harriet Guttenberg. “In a changing, tightening economy, many face operating in a business model that is challenging and unfamiliar. It’s part of Montgomery Alliance’s mission to help local agencies with education and information, as well as funding.”

The program will be presented by employment attorneys with the firm of Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy and Ecker. Presenters will discuss the complex laws and potential missteps of employment issues that can lead to claims and litigation. Practical guidance for minimizing an organization’s risk by appropriately assessing and dealing with hiring, compensation and termination will be offered.

Montgomery Alliance plans additional programs on other issues to assist non-profit organizations, including marketing strategies, accounting and bookkeeping, and specialized legal concerns.

To reserve a seat or for more information, call Montgomery Alliance at 301-990-3005 or email montgomery4alliance@comcast.net by Friday, April 16.
