Cambridge, MA, April 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Site and Upcoming Xconomy Forum will Focus on Innovation and Advances in Healthcare IT

Xconomy, the authoritative voice on business and technology in the exponential economy, today launched a Health IT channel dedicated to covering advances and innovation in healthcare through information technology. Mintz Levin and EMC are charter sponsors for the new channel.

In addition to covering health IT news on the ground in Xconomy’s three cities of Boston, San Diego and Seattle, the new channel will tackle larger stories of national interest originating outside the regions where Xconomy operates. Coupled with this more in-depth focus on health IT, Xconomy will also be holding forums and others events focused on healthcare and information technology. The first two have already been announced. On April 26, the Xconomy Forum: Healthcare in Transition at the MIT Media Lab will examine technological advances and their impact on the healthcare landscape. Top clinicians, entrepreneurs and technology innovators will deliver keynotes, panels, demos and presentations to offer a unique, up-close view of the promise and reality of health IT. A second event, Xconomy Forum: How Information Technology is Transforming Medicine and Healthcare, will take place on May 12 in Seattle.

Nearly three years ago, Xconomy launched its Boston site to cover start-up companies, the high-tech investment community, and the innovation strategy of large public companies primarily in information technology and life sciences. The new channel fuses these areas of expertise. It will focus on news and innovation in health IT and how technological advances impact healthcare in nationally and internationally.

“Healthcare plays a critical role in our economy and politics, and is dominating discussions across the country,” said Bob Buderi, founder and editor-in-chief of Xconomy. “As we continue to debate ways to provide enhanced healthcare at lower costs, information technology and research will drive innovation and advances in this field. Xconomy is well-positioned to apply our expertise in life sciences and IT to cover a field that impacts every American.”
