Chatham Street Café to Host "Handmade for Haiti" Fundraiser

Cary, NC, April 10, 2010 --( Gayla Bonke, owner and head chef at Chatham Street Café & Catering (, located at 140 E. Chatham St., has announced that the restaurant will host “Handmade for Haiti,” a fundraiser to benefit Doctors Without Borders, on Sunday, April 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will feature handcrafted accessories, bath and body products, home décor items, jewelry, soy candles and more. All proceeds from a charity raffle as well as a portion of all vendor sales will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

“Chatham Street Café is proud to support Doctors Without Borders and their continued relief efforts in Haiti,” said Bonke. “’Handmade for Haiti’ gives guests the chance to shop local vendors for a great cause.”

- Raffle tickets will sell for $5 each for a chance to win products and services from area businesses and artists, including Rachel von Roeschlaub paintings, a voucher for Carolina Railhawks game tickets, and gifts cards for services from Skin Sense, Namaste Yoga and more.

- Eleven local artists and designers will be featured, including Dillardville Birdhouses, Janice Originals, JustNeem, Mama Turtle, Meg Smither, My Kid’s Laundry, Mutant Angel, Old North Images, Sassy Strands, SSD Jewelry and The Chubby Dove.
