Miami, FL, April 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- IMUSA USA and Sedano's Supermarkets today announced a joint initiative to generate awareness and raise funds for Autism Speaks, the nation's largest autism science and advocacy organization.

"Autism is all around us and affects our community and our customers. IMUSA is a proud sponsor of Autism Speaks. Through our network of clients and friends, we help raise awareness, gather funds and advocate on behalf of Autism Speaks," said Manny Gaunaurd, president of IMUSA USA.

Sedano's, in conjunction with IMUSA, will debut a Puzzle Piece Fundraising campaign from April 14, 2010 through May 15, 2010 in honor of Autism Awareness Month. Sedano's customers will be invited to raise funds for autism research by purchasing a $1 puzzle piece. The Puzzle Piece Fundraising program will take place in all 34 Sedano's Supermarkets. A store recognition program will also honor managers and associates of top performing stores.

The interlocking multi-colored puzzle piece has become the international symbol of autism. Its significance has become multi-faceted. For some it represents the mystery and complexity of the disorder, for others it represents the mechanical nature of an autistics persons thought process. The bright colors are said to represent hope.

"Autism affects one in every 110 children, and Sedano's is honored to help raise awareness for a disease that touches so many children throughout South Florida. We invite the community to stop by our stores and donate $1 for Autism Speaks," said Javier Herrán, director of marketing, Sedano's Supermarkets.
