HD Interactive Develops Augmented Reality Projects for Valpak®

Tampa, FL, April 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Tampa-based web development company, HD Interactive, teamed up with direct marketing company, Cox Target Media®, which provides the popular Valpak Blue Envelope™, to create augmented reality marketing projects to promote Valpak advertising solutions.

The business to consumer project was an interactive way to enter a promotional contest. Augmented reality technology uses a special symbol printed on the Valpak envelope (in addition, the symbol could have been printed from the contest website), along with a web camera, to display interactive animations and video trailers on the computer screen. For those consumers without a web camera, HD Interactive created an alternate way to view the augmented reality site, thus providing a means for more consumers to participate.

A business to business campaign was run simultaneously with advertisements in Advertising Age and DM News (Direct Marketing News) magazines. The ad featured a symbol, which, when viewed with a web camera, invited viewers to learn more about the many components of advertising with Cox Target Media and Valpak.

Valpak was especially interested in augmented reality because of its ability to connect print ads and the Internet, and it’s potential to turn into a viral campaign. Understanding that audiences change, Valpak is reaching out to a younger group by tapping into this new technology, which is popular with today’s younger, technology-savvy users.
