Non-Profit Hosts Forum to Raise Additional Funding for Park Rebuild

Local non-profit seeks additional funding to be matched by the Town of Meredith for rebuilding of Childs Park in Meredith Center. Seeking to raise additional funds through community outreach.

Meredith, NH, April 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Friends of Meredith Parks and Recreation is hosting a forum on November 18 at 7PM at the Meredith Center Fire Station to gather input and share ideas regarding the possibility of making improvements to Childs Park in Meredith Center. All members of the community are invited to attend and participate.

The Friends of Meredith Parks and Recreation, a 501(c)3, non-profit volunteer organization, are joining with the Town of Meredith to help make overall improvements to Childs Park in Meredith Center. Topics currently being considered include improvements to the parking, ball field, basketball court, and amenities such as picnic area, benches, and restroom. The Friends are focusing their efforts on fund raising to help install a new playground.

Voters at last year’s town meeting appropriated $25,000 for the long range planning of the park and the surveying of the wetlands. This early phase has been completed and the next phase is nearing. Child’s Park has been in need of improvement for many years. It has great potential to provide a proper ball field, playground equipment and activities, family play and picnic areas.

Help is needed in large and small ways from creating and distributing flyers, to making popcorn and hot dogs for the summer movie nights and help with fundraising. Come and be a part of improving and enhancing the lives of our children. As we all know the quality of our lives here in Meredith is in great part because of the commitment others had made in the past.

The mission of The Friends group is to aid and promote the establishment of leisure and recreational opportunities for the citizens of Meredith; to encourage public and private support and financial assistance for recreational activities, programs, and facilities in the Town of Meredith; to assist the Meredith Parks and Recreation Department in fulfilling its mission.
