Grauer School student and North County resident, David Samaniego is traveling with the Poway interscholastic polo team to compete in the National Arena Polo Championships at Cornell University

Encinitas, CA, April 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Grauer School student and North County resident, David Samaniego (Class of 2010), is traveling with the Poway interscholastic polo team to compete in the National Arena Polo Championships at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., April 21-24, 2010. The Poway team will be competing with other interscholastic teams from across the globe including: Culver Military Academy (Indiana); Eldorado (Indio, CA); UVA (Virginia); Cowtown (Philadelphia) and Toronto (Canada). The Poway polo program consists of teams on three levels and began with local tournaments in November. Thirteen players participated this season and this will be the first national competition in five years. Poway won the first place title in 1993 and has emerged as a winner a total of three times. This year, Poway is seeded fourth in the six-team field.

Dr. Stuart Grauer commented, “We are tremendously proud of David advancing to the nationals this year and we are happy to make adjustments in his class schedule so that he can travel to Ithaca with the team. The flexibility our school provides to all students enrolled in athletic and academic competitions readily allows our students to excel beyond the classroom and find their chosen path.”

The Grauer School has an extensive athletic program that offers tennis, volleyball, basketball, golf, fencing, soccer, surfing, flag football, cross-country/triathlon, and a newly formed equestrian club. Many students who participate in sports on a professional level find the school to be very accommodating to their travel schedules through the Independent Studies program. The program allows flexibility and one-on-one instruction to keep students on track for high school graduation.

The Grauer School is located at 1500 South El Camino Real in Encinitas and scholarships are available. All students are encouraged to participate in athletic clubs and sports activities. For additional information, call (760) 944-6777 or visit www.grauerschool.com.
