Singapore, Singapore, April 27, 2010 --(PR.com
)-- IPS Securex Pte Ltd, one of the South East Asia’s leading security systems integrators, is pleased to announce that is one of Singapore’s first SME’s and the first security systems integrator in the world to achieve dual Business Continuity Management Certification in British Standard BS25999 and Singapore BCM Standard SS540:2008
Following the final audit, IPS Securex is now fully prepared to continue its core business functions in the event of disruptions or a disaster.
IPS Securex Managing Director Richard Stuart commented “Our customers often invest in multi-million dollar security systems supplied by IPS Securex. We are the first security systems integrator in the world to achieve this dual certification which will increase our customers’ confidence in our ability to continue to support these critical systems in the event of a disaster scenario.
“The Singapore Government has emphasized the importance of establishing BCM to enhance corporate resilience. At some stage in the future we expect both public and private sector organizations to require BCM certification as a pre-requisite for certain tenders, especially those for security products and services. We are fully prepared for this.
“We have invested in an alternate site with additional IT capability and spare parts storage to ensure we can continue to operate effectively even in the most difficult conditions. During the implementation phase we have provided training for our staff, not just covering what they need to do to maintain our critical functions but also providing them with an overall understanding of the entire Business Continuity Management processes.”
To help their preparation for the dual certification, IPS Securex partnered with GMH Pte Ltd, a BCM consultancy firm together with the BCM Institute, Asia Pacific’s largest BCM Practice. Dr Goh Moh Heng, President of BCM Institute stated: “I would like to congratulate and thank IPS Securex for the opportunity to be part of this significant achievement.”
Singapore BCM Standard SS540:2008 is to assist Singapore based companies to build a resilient capability to respond to crises. The standard provides a framework for organizations to develop procedures to facilitate the recovery of critical business functions. In IPS Securex’s case, this means that the Company has plans in place to continue to support its customers by maintaining its key functions during a crisis with particular emphasis on after sales service and support.
British Standard BS25999 is the British standard for Business Continuity Management. The first part of the BS25999 (BS25999-1:2006) was published by the British Standards Institution in December 2006 and the second (BS25999-2:2007) in November 2007.
