Continental Kosher Bakery, the oldest Kosher Bakery in the San Fernando Valley, is celebrating 90 years of Kosher baking with the launch of BabkaClub.com, the first cake-of-the-month club devoted to Babka, the classic Jewish coffee cake. Babka are traditional sweet yeast cakes that are hand mixed and rolled, filled with a delightful crumb mix, twisted and then baked in a tile lined oven.

Continental Kosher Bakery, the oldest Kosher Bakery in the San Fernando Valley, is celebrating 90 years of Kosher baking with the launch of BabkaClub.com, the first cake-of-the-month club devoted to Babka, the classic Jewish coffee cake. Babka are traditional sweet yeast cakes that are hand mixed and rolled, filled with a delightful crumb mix, twisted and then baked in a tile lined oven. A true artisan cake, Babka Club Babka are made exactly as they were 90 years ago: one at a time, by a real baker, from scratch, every day (except Shabbat). From Babroysk to New York to North Hollywood
When Jewish immigrants, among them family patriarch Phillip Levenson (far right), came to America in the early 20th century, they brought with them their cherished recipes. The most important of those recipes was the Babka. Babka is considered the Queen of the Bakery, taller and more nuanced then other coffee cakes. A true artisan creation, no two are exactly alike. Cutting into a fresh Babka, one discovers nooks and crannies filled with nuggets of delicious cake crumbs. Each Babka is made to order, mixed from scratch, and hand formed and baked, just as we did 90 years ago when we opened our first New York City bakery.
