First Investors Corporation Celebrates Eighty Years

New York, NY, May 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The year 2010 marks the eightieth anniversary of First Investors Corporation.

In 1930, amidst the Great Depression, Financial Independence Founders—the predecessor firm of First Investors Corporation—was established. The Company wished to cater to the everyday, individual investor, which was reflected in its philosophy, “You don’t have to be wealthy to invest with us.”

In 1948, the Company changed its name to First Investors Corporation, and its tradition of putting investors first has not changed to this day. Particularly instrumental in the Company’s growth were David Grayson and Glenn O. Head who, as President and Chairman, respectively, ran First Investors Corporation from 1968 until Mr. Grayson’s passing in 1994. Under their leadership, vital affiliates of First Investors Corporation were established: First Investors Management Company, Administrative Data Management Corp. and First Investors Federal Savings Bank.

First Investors Corporation has continued to grow under the current management of Kathryn S. Head and Robert M. Flanagan. Ms. Head, who joined First Investors in 1983, became Chairman in 2005. Mr. Flanagan, who joined First Investors Corporation in 1994, became President in 2001.

Currently, First Investors Corporation is headquartered at 110 Wall Street in New York City, with additional home office support in Edison, New Jersey, and boasts nearly fifty local offices across the country. “We are proud to carry on a tradition that has been eighty years in the making,” said Mr. Flanagan. “While we continue to grow and change with the times, our core principle has remained the same: a commitment to putting the client first.”
