This is the first Gigs4Good concert produced by Team Up for Nonprofits, an ongoing series of shows that will raise funds and awareness for a variety of deserving nonprofits. Team Up has selected Seattle Against Slavery (SAS) as the first beneficiary, an organization that fights human trafficking through community awareness, mobilization, advocacy, and capacity building.
The funds raised by this concert will be used by SAS for the transitional housing needs of trafficking survivors in the Seattle area. Alex Sum, executive director and co-founder of SAS said, “This population needs to have a more stable environment to help with their healing process, instead of bouncing from one shelter to another each night. We thank Team Up and their supporters for showing that as a community we do care about these people."
Headlining this event will be Victor Shade, the new alias from RA Scion of Common Market and quickly rising producer MTK, who blasted onto the music scene with their much talked about album release on April 4. Their music explores the struggle to live and grow into our most frightening and powerful potential, a theme that matches well with the mission of Seattle Against Slavery. The night will also feature performances by DJ B-Mello (KUBE 93), Project Lionheart, Sol and Dice.
Supporters and fans of all these groups will come together at the new Hard Rock Café Seattle, a state of the art music venue. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketweb for $20 presale ($25 at the door). This event would not be possible without the help of volunteers and sponsors, including Emerson Salon and The Industry Shop. Fans can follow the conversation on Twitter at #Gigs4Good and RSVP on Facebook, Twtvite or MySpace.
